THE MRC CLINICS® CONCEPT
About MRC Clinics®
MRC Clinics® has a different approach to orthodontic treatment based on extensive, long term research. MRC Clinics® uses state-of-the-art computer designed appliances designed by Dr Chris Farrell for Myofunctional Research Co. (MRC). Founded in 1989, MRC develops dental appliances to assist the correction of myofunctional habits in the growing child. Unlike traditional orthodontics, the MRC Clinics® goal is not just to have straight front teeth, but also to remove the bad influences on the child’s dental and facial development.
MRC’s dental appliances improve dental and facial development, and correct orthodontic problems earlier, often without the need for braces. MRC’s TRAINER™ and MYOBRACE® Appliance Systems are now used in over 100 countries worldwide by the world’s leading doctors and dentists. Visit the “What the Professors Say” section to find out what these professionals are saying. When combined with MRC TRAINER™ Activities, MRC Appliances assist children to correct myofunctional habits. This combination of appliances and activities is termed myofunctional orthodontics. Starting from five years of age, myofunctional orthodontics reduces the need for both braces and tooth extraction. The child’s goal is to obtain better facial and dental development. Other health benefits of myofunctional orthodontics include improved posture, less allergies and fewer TMJ (jaw joint) problems.
MRC Clinics® uses easy-to-understand 3D animations to show parents and children how the facial muscles influence tooth position, and how the combination of MRC TRAINERS™ and MRC TRAINER™ Activities are specifically designed to retrain the muscles of the tongue, lips and cheeks to function correctly. With the tongue, lips, cheeks and breathing all acting in harmony, MRC TRAINERS™ can easily move the teeth into their correct position, usually without the use of braces or retainers.
If started early, children can expect improved jaw growth and facial development as a permanent result of correcting these myofunctional habits. If you would like to learn more about myofunctional orthodontics please visit the Contact us page where you can leave a message or register for our next free group education session.
