Dr. Marta M. Rivera was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York until 10 years of age. Her parents moved to Puerto Rico, where she went to Notre Dame High school and later attended the University of Puerto Rico and graduated with a Biology major. She also graduated from the Medical Science Campus School of Dentistry of Puerto Rico. She practiced at one of her professor’s offices and then opened up her own practice.

She also worked with the Olympic committee of Puerto Rico, providing care to athletes and children who were boarded in the specialized training school. She attended many athletic games as a medical staff and provided dental trauma emergency treatment, and customized athletic mouth guards at a time when it was not yet a requirement of the sport. In 1995 she decided to go back to school and did her residency in pediatric dentistry in the University Children’s Hospital in San Juan Puerto Rico.

Before finishing her residency she came to Florida in 1996 to gain Florida Dental Board certification. She moved to Florida in 1997 and started practicing in Lakeland, then Plant City. She has been a resident of New Tampa since 1999; opening her own office in New Tampa in 2002.

She loves the area and is very grateful of the wonderful patients that have been with her since her office opened.

Not having children of her own, she tries to make them as comfortable as possible; thinking as she would if they were her own children.
